I am not very good with computers. Is there any way
that you can make this training easy for me?
We
put three different training modes in our courses. One
of the modes is Slide Show. It is located on the navigation
bar in the top left corner. By clicking on the Slide
Show Mode you will be able to just watch the computer
demonstrate the training as if you were watching a video.
When you are ready you can change the mode to Standard
and start interacting with the training. Also you can
go into Practice Mode, which is even more difficult
and will help test your knowledge.
2.
Is a plug in needed in order to play the courses?
In order for the streaming product to work the Authorware
Web Player plug in needs to be installed to the browser.
So if you train from work or home you would need to
install the player once on each computer. A Get Authorware
Button is provided on every student page. PLEASE NOTE:
We’ll soon be upgrading to an all HTML format
in the future and the Authorware will not be necessary
– but for now, students need it to view the courses.
3.
Does the Web Player plug in have to be installed on
each computer that I train from?
In order for the streaming product to work the Authorware
Web Player plug in needs to be installed to the browser.
So if you train from work or home you would need to
install the player once on each computer. A Get Authorware
Button is provided on every student page. It just takes
a few minutes to download. See note above regarding
future upgrades.
4.
If I cannot finish all the training that I want to today
can I pick up where I stopped yesterday?
Yes, a bookmark will keep your place. You can start
the course again from work, home or even while traveling.
You will be able to start training again from where
you stopped inside a lesson.
5.
How long will it take me to learn a new skill?
That is what we love about these courses ! It could
take as little as 5 minutes. We break up our courses
into lesson tasks. So you could learn a new skill like
bolding text in less than 5 minutes. At Creative Training,
we know you don’t have big chunks of time to learn
new computer skills – this training is very user
friendly and very manageable. Just 20 minutes a day
for a few weeks can make a huge difference !
6.
I am not allowed to play sound on my computer at work.
Can I still learn?
Yes, our courses have sound but if your office does
not let you play sound you will still be able to learn.
Even if your computer does not have a sound card you
can still use these courses because the spoken narrative
is given to you on each slide in written form. You can
also turn the sound off or lower the sound volume to
a level where no one else can hear you. If your office
allows, you could log on from home and play the sound
from your home computer with a 56k modem. That’s
what so great about this – you can use it anywhere
you have internet access.!
7.
What type of computer should I have in order to use
these courses?
We suggest a Pentium Class or higher CPU, 133mHz or
faster with a 32 bit operating system like Windows 95,
Windows 98, Windows NT or higher.
8.
Why can I not see the entire course? It runs off my
computer screen and I cannot click on the buttons.
You will need a display resolution of 800 by 600. You
can change to this setting by clicking on start, then
slide to settings, then click on control panel, then
click on the display icon. After that click on the settings
tab, and move the slide bar to 800 by 600, click apply,
and then ok. Some of our new courses will require 1024
by 768 so you might have to move the slide bar over
one more time if you still can not see the entire course
on your screen.
9.
What is the recommended internet connection speed?
A 56k modem or higher connection speed. But, there are
special considerations for AOL users. Some versions
of AOL browsers might not work with our site. You could
upgrade your AOL browser or connect with AOL, minimize
the AOL browser, and then use a different browser like
Netscape or Internet Explorer to visit our site.
10.
Can I use Netscape Navigator to display the courses?
Yes, we recommend Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and
Netscape Navigator 6.2 or higher
11.
Do I have to buy an application like Excel before I
can take your training?
No, the training courses simulate actual applications.
You can train on many applications before you purchase
them. This way you will know what you like before you
buy, and when you do buy you will already be trained.
12.
Are there any help instructions or documentation to
guide me?
Each page has a ? mark. Just click on it and it will
give you help just for the page that you are on. You
can also click on User Guides located under the Student
Menu. Here you will find a Student Help Section, a Training
Guide, and a Testing Guide. These are interactive just
like our courses but you can also print out a hard copy.
13.
Many of these computer terms are new to me. How will
I be able to understand them all?
We have an on-line Glossary that provides terms and
their definitions to help you.
14.
How can I easily find information on a problem like
working with macros?
Our Learning Management System provides you with a Find
Lesson Search Box. Just type in a subject like macros
and all lessons that are associated with that task will
come up.
15.
After I have finished my training, how will I be able
to show someone that I have completed these materials?
You can click on My Statistics which is under the Student
Menu, and then print out a report that covers lesson
names, score of tests or training progress, your status,
time in lessons and even more information.

Especially
For Corporate Users:
1.
Can the Learning Management System incorporate other
training materials?
In the Lesson area, you can add a lesson or course by
submitting the URL link where the material resides.
Then, you simple create a new course and select the
lessons or sub courses that you wish to be in the main
course. As long as the materials are web-based, the
LMS will be able to launch them.
2.
Can I make my own custom content or my own courses to
be delivered over the internet?
Yes, there is an option for a Content Authoring Tool
(CAT). This option would allow you to bring in screen
shots in .jpg, .gif, and .png formats. You can add the
explanation text and the action text. You can also add
"hot spots" to force students to click on
tool bars and move them from screen to screen to simulate
an application. You can also add a sound file for a
multimedia effect. Once you are done, your custom course
will have the same look and feel as ours. Students can
reach your custom course the same way they reach any
other lesson through the Learning Management System.
You will also be able to get the same type of tracking
information that you can get with the standard How To
Master lessons.
3.
How can I make training assignments?
You can assign courses to all students, to one individual
student, or to groups that you define. It is better
to assign courses to defined groups and then assign
students to that group. A student can also belong to
more than one group. As an example, you may want to
set up a group for executives. You might assign PowerPoint
training for that group. Then, you would assign only
executives to that group. You are not limited to the
number of groups that you can create or how you assign
students to those groups.
4.
How can I register my students?
You have a few options:
•
You can have your students self register and assign
themselves to a group during registration. When students
assign themselves to that group, they automatically
receive the course assignments from that group based
upon being a member.
•
You can have students self register and then later
you assign them to a group.
•
You can register all your students ahead of time so
they do not have to register at all. You would provide
them the log on information and they would receive
the courses that you assigned to them based upon group
selections. You can even import a list of students
from a common delimited .txt file and register all
the students at once.
